Janella Jones Parrott, 67, of West Paducah, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at Baptist Health Paducah. She was a licensed cosmetologist for over 20 years in Wickliffe and also taught piano in Ballard and McCracken counties. She was a member of Spring Bayou Baptist Church and was a church pianist over 30 years at various churches. Janella Parrott is survived by a daughter, Robin Cooper of Paducah; one sister, Patricia Kingcade of Paducah; and one granddaughter, Rachael Ann Cooper Wright and husband Chad of Paducah. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clint Thomas Parrott Sr.; and her parents, Herschel H. and Lela Talley Jones; and two sisters, Eloise Edwards and Marilyn Jones; and a brother, Charles Denver Jones. Donald Ray Wren, 78, of Paducah, died Sunday, November 24, 2013, at his home. Don was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and attended the local Kingdom Hall. One of his greatest pleasures was sharing scriptural truths about Jehovah God’s Kingdom (Daniel 2:44) and the blessings it would bring to all mankind (Revelation 21: 3 & 4). He is survived by his wife, Betty Sue Sharp Wren; five sons, Donnie Ray Wren, Richard Lee Wren, Timothy Allen Wren, Jeffrey Todd Wren, Daron Kent Wren; two daughters, Carey Denise Wren and Crystle Dawn Wren Guess; one brother; and six sisters. He was preceded in death by one son, Christopher Don Wren; his parents, Elbert Thomas Wren and Mable Roberts Housner Wren; four brothers; and one sister. Per his wishes he will be cremated. There will be no visitation. Arnaldo Ferreira, 68, of Paducah died at 12:30 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2013, at Baptist Health Paducah. He was a book publisher. He is survived by his wife, Alvena Ferreira; one son, Paul Ferreira of Metropolis, Ill.; and one daughter, Ana-Paula Ferreira of Paducah. Wayne “Pip” Marshall, 97, of Paducah, died at 5:30 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2013, at his home. Mr. Marshall was a veteran of WWII having served as an Army Sergeant. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a retired painter having worked for O.E. Hancock & Sons. He loved his farm and going to the river to watch the barges from the foot of Broadway. He was a breakfast regular at “Little Castle.” He will be sadly missed by his beloved dog “Buddy.” He is survived by his Godson and nephew, Kenneth W. Meeks and wife Sherri of Paducah; nephews, Jeffrey W. Marshall and William “Bill” Ashley and wife Pat; nieces, Mary Ashley, Sandy Ashley and Beverly Ashley; several great-nieces and nephews; and several more great-great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, David, Sr. and Mattie Faith Marshall; his wife of 57 years, Sarah Meeks Marshall; sisters, Mary Fleeta Ashley and Virginia Ashley; brothers, David Marshall, Jr., Gratis “Jap” Marshall and Edward Doyle Marshall; and nephews, Michael D. Marshall and Aaron Ashley.

Thelma Peck Harper, 99, of Paducah, Ky., passed away at 10:10 a.m. Sunday, December 1, 2013, at the Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center of Paducah. She was a bookkeeper for Peck Transfer Company for many years. Thelma was a member of the Southland Baptist Temple and the Reidland Senior Homemakers Club. Thelma is survived by her daughter, Ann Pearson and husband Gayle of Gilbertsville, Ky.; two sons, Kenneth Peck and wife Janice of Melber, Ky., and James E. Peck and wife June of Lone Oak, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Kim (Wes) Page of Owensboro, Ky., Jim (Joan) Peck of Lago Vista, Texas, Jared (Tiffany) Peck of Lexington, Ky., Kathy Cope of Benton, Ky., Kelly (Terry) Thompson of Melber, Ky., Linda (John) Cocke of Gilbertsville, Ky., and Michelle Pearson of Ledbetter, Ky.; 11 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Donald John Poirier, 83, of Mayfield, formerly of Vermont and Fancy Farm, died at 9:25 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2013, at Heritage Manor Healthcare Facility. He served as a sonar man on a destroyer during the Korean War and later as a sonar man in the Pacific Submarine Fleet. He is survived by one son, Donald Block of Ledbetter; one daughter, Susan Durbin of the St. Denis community; one sister, Betty Poirier of Vermont; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Brenda Carol Cornelius, 73, of Mayfield, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. at her residence.
She was a member of First Christian Church “Disciples of Christ” in Mayfield and she was a Licensed Property & Casualty Insurance Agent for 30-plus years. Mrs. Cornelius is survived by her husband, Ronald Lee Cornelius of Mayfield; two sons, Kevin Lee (Kimberly) Cornelius of Hoschton, Ga., and Bradford Boyd (April) Cornelius of Mayfield; four grandchildren, Joshua Lee-Scott Cornelius of Paducah, Alex Jordan (Rachel) Cornelius of Hoschton, Ga.; Heather Nicole Willie of Wingo and Sylvia Tess Willie of Mayfield; and four great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucian Harmon and Lena Rivers Yancey Boyd; one brother, Dudley Francis Boyd; and two sisters, Cecyle Louise Seay and Etha Mildred Robertson. Mrs. Marian Olson, 83 of Mayfield, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013, at 12:30 P.M. at Green Acres Healthcare Facility. She was of the Baptist Faith and a retired Medical Secretary. Mrs. Olson is survived by her five grandchildren, Sameer Bages of Chicago, Samir Bages of San Diego, Calif., Nabeha Zegar of Chicago, Nadia Vraja of Chicago and Heather Sloan of Wingo; brother, Fred Enoch of Fancy Farm; two sisters, Margaret Enoch of Mayfield and Patsy Enoch Nance of Mayfield; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Charles Russell Thompson, 75, of Calvert City died at 2:02 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at his home. He was a retired self-employed insurance agent. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Calvert City. He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Shields Thompson; two daughters, Connie Russell Burt of Calvert City and Lisa Kay Hammond of Gallatin, Tenn.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Linda June Harris of Beech Grove, Ind.
