John Thomas Artis, 60, of Paducah, formerly of Hanford California passed 12:30 pm Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at his residence. He was a retired right of way technician for Shell Oil Company, and a United States Army Veteran. John was a loving father and husband who would do anything for his friends and neighbors. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Shirley J. Graves Artis; his mother Verlie Marie Skinner Laughlin; one daughter, Crystal P. Artis, of LaCenter; two sons John Thomas Artis Jr. and wife Gilea of Paducah, Jeremy Dain Artis and wife Debby of Belknap IL; one sister; seven, grandchildren, Fernie Porras, Paula Vines, Michael Vines, Aaron Emmerson, Jade Artis, Ethan Artis, Collin Brown; and two great grandchildren, Jasmine McCoy and Ryden Owen. John was preceded in death by his father Jimmy D. Artis; one sister; and one brother. A graveside service for John will be 1:00 pm Sunday February, 16, 2014 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Kenneth Hall officiating. Marjorie Eileen “Kitty” Hull, 82, of Kevil, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Lourdes Hospital. She was born on May 24, 1931 in Springfield, Ohio to the late Fred C. and Loretta Young Thomas. She is survived by two children, Martina Greenwell and husband Dwain of Paducah and Peter Pentasuglia and wife Teri of Gulfport, FL; a brother, John D. Thomas and wife Donna of Springfield, Ohio; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, Michael C. Hull; and a brother, Richard Thomas.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Martha Parker Miller, Age 79, of Calvert City, Kentucky, passed away on February 13, 2014, after a long illness. She is survived by her two sons, their wives and five grandchildren, Bobby R. Miller, Jr., his wife Laurie Miller who reside at Paducah, Kentucky, and their daughters, Caroline Miller who resides at Lexington, Kentucky and Catherine Miller who resides at Houston, Texas; William P. Miller, M.D. and his wife, Barbara Miller, who reside at Huntington Beach, California, and their sons, James Miller and Zachary Miller who reside at Huntington Beach, California, and Kevin Miller, who resides in Palo Alto, California. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Bobby R. Miller, Sr., her parents, John Clifford Parker and Lottie Futrell Parker, and her sister, Mary Ann Clark. She was also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at the Elm Grove Cemetery, adjacent to Elm Grove Baptist Church, State Highway 94, in Murray, Kentucky. Michael Taylor Ezell, 74, of Paducah, passed away at 7:25PM Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah. He is survived by his wife, Glenda Joy (Grace) Ezell of Paducah; one son, Dr. Kevin Ezell and wife Lynette, of Alpharetta, GA; two daughters, Penny Wilson and husband Russ and Joy Beth McGough and husband Jeff, all of Paducah, KY; two sisters, Rosie Ferguson, of Morton’s Gap, KY and Peggy Graham, of Indianapolis, IN; thirteen grandchildren, Anna Creswell and husband David, Shelly McCulley and husband Matt, Taylor, John Michael, Elizabeth and Micah Lyn Ezell, Jordan, Emily, Sawyer and Ty Wilson and Grace, Leah and Emma Kate McGough. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Taylor & Carmen Faye Kington Ezell. Funeral services will be at 2:00PM Sunday, February 16, 2014 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Dr. Kevin Ezell and Rev. Jewell Avery, 84, of Paducah, formerly of Ledbetter, passed away at 12:05 am Friday, February 14, 2014 at Lourdes Hospital. Jewell is survived by her three daughters, Diane Flynn and husband Jerry, of Paducah, Patty Hughes and husband David, of Ledbetter, Sherrie Small and husband Craig, of Boaz; her son Danny Avery and wife Mary Ann, of Ledbetter; nine grandchildren, Daniel Avery and wife Kerry, Matthew Avery and wife Lauren, Brian Flynn, Mark Flynn, Michelle Fraser and husband Stewart, Ginger Gunther and husband Butch, Benjamin Hughes and wife Kari, Joshua Hughes and wife April, Taylor Pierce; her four great-grandchildren, Hannah Avery, Westin Avery, Mason Avery, Ethan Avery; one nephew Keith Cruse and his wife Becky and one great-niece, Jessica Knight. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Sidney Avery, one sister, Betty Cruse; and one great-nephew Joseph Cruse. Robert Earl Lynn, 80, devoted husband, loving father, and unconditional friend, was granted peace on February 14, 2014 after an extended battle with lung cancer. Mary Eleanor ‘Penny’ Lally, Penny is survived by three daughters, Eleanor Cecil and husband Leon of North Tampa, FL, Kate Delehunt and husband Joe of Kansas City, MO and Beth Horan of Los Angeles, CA; two sons, Michael Lally and wife Cathy of Danville, KY and Jim Lally and wife Jennifer of Mt. Ruby Jane Gilmour, 87, of Paducah, KY died Monday, February 17, 2014 at 1:37 am at McCracken Nursing and Rehab. Ruby was a homemaker and attended the Episcopal Church. She is survived by her daughters, Gail Tibbals of Bethlehem, CT and Karen Keefe of Lake Villa, IL; her son, Clark Gilmour of Gurnee, IL; her sister, Sarah Cathryn Shry of Paducah, KY and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William David Gilmour; two sisters and five brothers. A memorial service is planned for May 2014. Arrangements are being handled by Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.

Effie Bagwell, 86, of Paducah, passed away at 9:27 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Bagwell was a homemaker and a member of Lone Oak United Methodist Church. Mrs. Bagwell is survived by her husband, Will C. Bagwell; a son, Ray Bagwell and his wife Kathy of Paducah; two grandchildren, Jennifer Bagwell Barnhill of Whiteville, NC and Billy Bagwell of Paducah; three great grandchildren, Ethan and Aaron Barnhill and Garrett Bagwell; a brother, Ernest Branch of Greenville, SC; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Gladys Walters, Lora Beaufort and Sadie Branch; a brother, Jack Branch. Her parents were, Ben and Elizabeth Benton Branch. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Lone Oak United Methodist Church with Rev. Ben Boone officiating. Dennis F. Rittenberry, 60, of Paducah KY died Sunday, February 16, 2014 at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, TX after a brief illness of cancer. Dennis, formerly of Hopkinsville, KY was of Baptist faith and a graduate of Hopkinsville High School in 1972. He was a devoted husband and loved his two dogs, “Maggie and “Shelby.” He loved the outdoors, his yard and enjoyed hunting. Dennis was a participant in Relay for Life, Heart Walk, volunteer for Western Baptist Auxillary and a volunteer fire fighter for Concord Fire Department and the Lone Oak Fire Department. He retired from USEC where he served as a front line manager and foreman. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Maxine Jewell Rittenberry; one son, Michael Rittenberry of Henderson, KY; parents, Samuel Rittenberry & June Watts Rittenberry of Hopkinsville, KY; one sister, Sherry Moore of Hopkinsville, KY; one brother, Lynn Rittenberry and wife Soozy of Hopkinsville, KY. Services will be held Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsviklle, KY with Rev. Leroy Kaufman, 82, of the St. John Community died Monday, February 17, 2014 at 11:17 a.m. at Baptist Health Paducah. Leroy was a lifetime member of St. John Catholic Church. He was self- employed as a farmer, raised cattle and hauled animals to sale barns where he enjoyed seeing his friends. He also enjoyed gardening especially his tomato crop that seemed to him to get bigger and better each year. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, June Shoulta Kaufman; two daughters, Janet Lee Englert and husband Donnie of Paducah, KY and Glenda Faye Fayta and friend, Tom Loar of Chicago, IL; three sons Rick Kaufman and wife, Debbie of Arlington, TN, Robert Kaufman and Gary Kaufman both of Paducah, KY; one sister, Imogene Davenport and husband Harold of Paducah, KY; fourteen grandchildren and two great- granddaughters; several nieces and nephews. Preceding in death were parents, Frank Joseph Kaufman & Emma Mae Futrell Kaufman; one daughter, Mary Ann Kaufman; five sisters, Thelma Felts, Juanita Kloss, Rosemary Bower, Marceline Batusic and Audrey Neihoff; one brother, Buddy Kaufman. Services will be held Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Rev. Charles McNail 68, Kevil, KY died Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 11:52 a.m. at Lourdes Hospital. Charles was a native of Centralia, IL and a member of Bethel Christian Church. He was retired from Kraft Foods where he served as Production Supervisor. He worked for Sears parts & service after his retirement. He was a graduate of Centralia High School in class of 1963. Charles loved and had interest in Street Rod Cars and was a member of River Tin Street Rods.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years Erma Jackson McNail; one daughter, Jennifer McNail and partner Kimberly McNail of Paducah, KY; one son Brad McNail and wife Lisa of Paducah, KY; one grandson, Robert McNail, several nieces and nephews. Preceding in death were his parents, Robert Paul McNail & Vivian Hamilton McNail, twin infant daughters, Melissa & Melinda McNail; one sister Vivian Leigh Fulton; one brother Paul McNail and half-brother Frank Fowler. Services will be held Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev.
