Betty L. Hook, age 74, passed away at 2:34 pm on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Hook was a former apartment building manager in Chicago, IL. She was also a Sunday School teacher at the First Baptist Church in Nortanville, KY. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Aviles and husband Elmundo of Paducah; Linda Montgomery and husband Robin Denney of Paducah; Trudy Helton and late husband Kenny of Paducah; sons, Floyd Wayne Hook and wife Delores of Paducah; Bobby Hook and wife Donna of Paducah; sisters, Barbara English of Benton; brothers, John Kirtley and wife Lois of Paducah; grandchildren, Edmundo Aviles, Barbara Morales, Alexander Wagner, Ismael Ruiz, Robert Hook, James Helton, Keith Helton, Kevin Helton and Jennifer Helton; several great grandchildren and two great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Wiley Hook; daughter, Carolyn Ann Hook; her parents, Walter and Clara Mae (Carpenter) Griffith; six sisters and two brothers. Wallace E. Buchanan, 93, of Paducah, died Tuesday at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was a retired realtor, former president of Paducah Board of Realtors and taught real estate courses at Paducah Community College. He was a United States Army veteran and member of Lone Oak United Methodist Church. He is survived by two sons, Steve Buchanan of Carmel, IN and Gary Buchanan of Raleigh, NC; two grandsons, Brian Buchanan and Brandon Buchanan; and two great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his wife, Joy V. Latham Buchanan and two brothers. His parents were Coyne and Lannie Nancy Little Buchanan. A memorial service will be scheduled in the spring. Sandra Seay-Webb 54 of Paducah passed away at her home, in Paducah. Thursday, February 27, 2014. Sandra worked as a RN at Baptist Health in Paducah. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Champ Wyatt Webb of Paducah; one son, Robert Wyatt McDaniel (Daniel) Webb of Paducah; three daughters, Brook Elizabeth Webb of Paducah, Caroline Michelle Webb of Lexington, KY and Reagan Grace Webb of Paducah; her mother, Ruth Byerley Seay of Paducah; one sister, Roxane (husband Kenny) Price of Paducah; two grandchildren, Jackson Diaz and Baylie Webb; one nephew, David Price and the “Nashville Webbs” Champ, Holly and their boys, Champ and Gabriel. She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Seay and her brother, Bobby Seay. She was born August 28, 1959 at Western Baptist Hospital. She went to Whittier grade school, Jetton JH and graduated from Paducah Tilghman HS in 1977. She attended PCC and the University of Kentucky. She started working at age 14 at the Cape Codder restaurant and purchased her first new car at 16. And at the age of 42, with 4 kids in school, she went back to school and became an RN. Her work ethic was remarkable, she took pride in saying, “I’ve never been late for work and I don’t leave work until everything is done.” But let there be no misunderstanding, her true life’s work was being “mom”. Indeed, Sandy will be sadly missed but much more importantly, she will be happily remembered for her quick and often cutting wit and her truly unique style. She will always be respected because of the clarity of her opinion and the depth of her passion. She will always be loved by and bonded to “Brookie,” “Boone,” “K-line” and “Rea-Rea” because of her unrelenting and unwavering commitment to them. And her soul will live forever because of her unfaltering faith in Jesus Christ. Funeral services will be at 11:00AM on Monday, March 3, 2014 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Julia, “Judy” Moore Beyer, age 73, of Lone Oak passed away on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN. She was born in Jackson, TN and moved to Paducah as a child. Judy was a former employee of Paducah Bank where she worked as a proof operator. Judy loved camping, fishing, working outdoors and was a huge fan of University of Kentucky Wildcat basketball. Judy’s hobby was giving and caring for others, and her prize possession however, was her family. She enjoyed having everyone in her home and preparing “large” delicious meals. She was a member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church and a 1959 graduate of Lone Oak High School. Judy leaves behind many friends and family including one daughter, Mona Beyer of Paducah, KY; one son Danny Beyer and wife Debbie Jeffrey Beyer of Boaz, KY; two sisters, Betty Ann Havner of Jackson, TN and Sandy Poat and husband Bobby of Paducah, KY; seven grandchildren, Lindsay Wren, Jeffersonville, IN, Tessa Wren Hooks and husband Matt of Paducah, KY, Morgan Beyer, Lincoln, NE, Cody Beyer, Boaz, KY, Gavin Wren, Paducah, KY, Mason Hunerkoch, and Daniel Hunerkoch both of Virginia Beach, VA; two great-grandchildren, Eli Camilotto, Clarksville, IN, Lucy Hooks, Paducah, KY; several nieces and nephews. Robbie Helen Wiggins Long, 86, of West Paducah, passed away Friday, February 28, 2014 at 10:10 am at Parkview Nursing and Rehab. Robbie was born in Cedar Grove, KY on September 5, 1927 to Robert and Edith Wiggins. She graduated from Salem High School in 1946, studied at Paducah Junior College and graduated from Murray State University in 1973 with a Masters Degree in Education. She was a co-owner and operator of Anderson & Long Grocery in Grahamville, KY. She retired from the Paducah School System after twenty years of service and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church for over sixty years. She enjoyed reading, shopping and travel. She is survived by her sons, Greg and Gary Long, of West Paducah and her brother, Joe Paul Wiggins and wife Myra Lee, of Salem, KY. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Paul Long; her parents, Robert Henderson Wiggins and Edith M. Hardin Wiggins; her sister, Eva Lou Head and her brother, Thomas Wiggins. Anna Buckner, 88, of Paducah, KY, formerly of Providence, KY, passed away at 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Parkview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Buckner was a member of Margaret Hank Cumberland Presbyterian Church and also attended Trinity Methodist Church, she was retired from Owens Cleaners, a homemaker, enjoyed quilting and was a volunteer with the Lourdes Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Buckner is survived by two sons, Michael Buckner of Paducah, KY and Dennis Buckner of Fort Lauderdale, FL; one granddaughter, Paige Buckner of Murray, KY; one sister, Hilda Duncan of Providence, KY. She was preceded in death by her husband, Estel Ray Buckner. Her parents were, Ray and Addie Lou Monroe Sigler. Peyton ‘Bill’ Cromwell, 81, of Paducah, passed away at 6:35 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Superior Care Home. Mr. Cromwell was a member of Fountain Ave. United Methodist Church and was a retired engineer with B.F. Goodrich.
Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janis Kelley Cromwell; two daughters, Cathy Anderson and her husband Dan of Orange Beach, AL and Marcy McCann and her husband Doug of Mt. Dewayne L. Martin, 74, of Paducah formerly of Harrisburg IL passed away 9:04 pm Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Baptist Health. Dewayne was a member of Southland Baptist Temple and had worked as a supervisor for Payless Drugs and retired as a manager for CVS Pharmacy. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Edie Patrick Martin; three sons, Keith Martin of Paducah, Steve Martin and wife Mikki of Paducah, Michael Martin of Paris TN; one sister, Dawan Bush of Columbus IN; and three grandchildren, Ryan Martin, Haleigh Martin, and Tyler Martin. He is preceded in death by two grandchildren, Brandon Martin, and Ashley Martin. His parents were Looney G. Martin and Nona Vaughn Martin. William Frank Baumer, Sr., 86, of Paducah, died Monday at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis, IL. He was born in Paducah on December 18, 1927 to the late Henry Herman Baumer, Sr. and Bernice Aline Tatum Baumer. He was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Past Missouri District Treasurer of the Lutheran Layman’s League and Social Club. An area farmer, he was a past Director at Southern States Cooperative. He was also a Master Sergeant in the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Doris Elizabeth Zoller Baumer; four sons, William Frank Baumer, Jr., of Paducah, David Scott Baumer and wife Tricia of Paducah, Robert Allan Baumer and wife Jennifer of Memphis, TN and Mark Andrew Baumer and wife Jennifer of Louisville, KY; seven grandchildren, Erin Baumer Hudson, Michael Baumer, Alan Baumer, Logan Baumer, Landon Baumer, Josiah Baumer, and Gavin Baumer; two great-grandchildren, Savannah Baumer and Lincoln Baumer; and his brother, Paul Frederick Baumer of Woodland, Ca. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Jane Baumer Walter and a brother, Henry Baumer, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 10am Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Corey Aker officiating.
