Frances Katterjohn Schmidt, 93, of Paducah passed away at 6:25AM Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Parkview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Paducah. To many she was known as Mawmaw. She ran a daycare out of her home for 42 years and was a member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church. Surviving are her two daughters, Caroline Schmidt Roach and Teresa Schmidt (Wm. Kenneth) Blackburn all of Paducah, the father of the Roach grandchildren, Charles Lynn Roach; seven grandchildren, James Lynn Roach, Wm. Kevin (Tammy) Blackburn, Charles Keith (Judy) Roach, Amy Blackburn, Stephen Andrew (Suzanne) Roach, Jill (Jeff) Mudd and Kerri (Keith) Eads; thirteen great-grandchildren, Rachel (Eric) Dunsford, Kasey (Jon) Clement, Zachery (Shamika) Roach, Wm. Kyle Newton, Travis Keith Newton, Colton Roach, Alyssa Roach, Leigh Ann Blackburn, Taylor Mudd, Hayley Mudd, Flynn Mudd, Jake Brotherson and Max Brotherson; one great-great-grandchild, Kale Newton and one niece, Susan (Johnnie) Draffen. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James Edward Schmidt; her parents, Fred and Lucinda Katterjohn; one sister, Martha Katterjohn Puckett; two brothers, Johnny Mott Katterjohn and Hugh Edward Katterjohn and one grandson, James W. Blackburn. Funeral services will be at 2:00PM Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Jeff Wallace officiating. Brad Hawthorne, 56, of Paducah passed away at 5:00 pm Thursday, April, 3, 2014 at his residence. He was the owner and operator of Hawthorne Properties LLC, a business he co-owned with his father and son. Brad had attended Heartland Worship Center and was ranked 9th in the world as a professional skeet shooter. Brad is survived by his father, James Read Hawthorne of Paducah, son James B Hawthorne Jr. and wife Miranda of Paducah, daughter, Kelley Lynn Hawthorne of Nashville TN, son Samuel Owen Hawthorne of Coconut Creek FL; one sister Rebecca Sue Kearney and husband Dr. Robert Kearney of San Diego CA; and Jennifer Hawthorne; three grandchildren, Cole Bradley Hawthorne, Hunter Read Hawthorne, and Luke Riley Hawthorne; two nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his mother Delores Hawthorne. Funeral services for Brad will be 10:00 am Monday, April 7, 2014 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Slusmeyer, 42, of Paducah, KY passed away at 6:37 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at his residence. Greg was a accountant for Mid-Continent University and was a member of Heartland Worship Center. He was a graduate of Murray State University receiving a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. Greg was also a graduate of Mid-Continent University. He is survived by his wife, Shauna Gurley Slusmeyer of Paducah, KY; daughters, Ashleigh Loran Slusmeyer and Alyssa Kelli Slusmeyer both of Paducah, KY; mother, Judy Myers Slusmeyer of Paducah, KY. Greg was preceded in death by his father, Harry Slusmeyer; sister, Gena McKay and his grandparents, Casper and Geraldine Slusmeyer. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Dr. Nathan Joyce officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Thomas Daniel “Tom” Galvin, 90, of Paducah, died peacefully on Sunday, April 6, at approximately 10:30 a.m. at his home at Morningside of Paducah. He was surrounded by his family. A native of Paducah, Tom was born February 17, 1924 to the late James Leslie Galvin and Agnes Felicitis Flynn Galvin. He was a 1943 graduate of St. Mary’s Academy. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving during World War II from July, 1943 to April, 1946, spending the majority of his service time in Brisbane, Australia. Upon his discharge, he attended Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio and Murray State. He joined the family business, Voor’s Night Club, in 1948. He became the operator in November, 1961 upon the death of his father, and continued to run the business until it was sold in June, 1972. He then became a route salesman for the W. J. Word Tom’s distributorship until his retirement in June, 1986. After his retirement, he worked part-time as a sales associate for Red Wing Shoes from September, 1992 to June, 2002. He was of the Catholic faith, a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. He has been a member of the Knights of Columbus Holy Rosary Council #1055 of Paducah since July, 1958, where he served as Grand Knight during 1963-1964. He was also a member of the Father John Fallon Assembly #312 of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. For the last 1 ½ years, he has been a member of the community at Morningside of Paducah. Tom is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Frances Schmidt Galvin; four children, Susan Skipworth of Paducah, Tim Galvin (Jeanne Lefever) of Richmond, Va., Sarah Galvin (Greg Guenthner) of Lexington, Ky., and Ted Galvin of Paducah; three grandchildren, Rachael Skipworth Taylor (Glenn Peyton Taylor) of Owensboro, Emma Guenthner of Lexington, and Lydia Galvin of Richmond; and one great grandchild, Addison Katherine Taylor. He is also survived by two sisters, Jean Galvin and Mary Galvin both of Paducah; and one brother, John Galvin (Maureen) of Madison, Indiana; several nieces and nephews and a cousin, Sue Sutherland of Paris, Kentucky. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Galvin. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with the Rev. J. Patrick Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah, with prayers at 6:00 p.m. Honor Guard from the Father John Fallon Assembly #312 of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus will stand guard during visitation. The family would like to thank the staff at Morningside, the staff of Lourdes Hospice, the staff of the VA Homecare program, and all his other caregivers. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Lourdes Hospice, P. Robert O. “Bob” Morris, 83, of Paducah, KY, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 6:35 am at Baptist Health Paducah. Bob, as he was known to his friends, was born on August 15, 1930 in Paducah, KY to Robert and Stella Morris. He was a 1948 graduate of Reidland High School. He furthered his education at Paducah Junior College, where he graduated in 1950. He served his country as a sergeant with the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He worked as an Operations Manager for M & G Transport. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Paducah, a member of the Elks Club, an avid golfer and a member of the Rolling Hills Country Club. He is survived by his friend and companion, Bea Tapp, of Paducah, KY; his sons, Robert K. Morris and wife Sue Ann, of Owensboro, KY, Kelly S. Morris and wife Samantha, of Tyler, TX; his grandchildren, Katie Alexander and husband Craig, of Houston, TX, Evan Morris and wife Kate, of Louisville, KY, Tiffany Morris, of Tyler, TX, Tyson Morris, of Paducah, KY; his great grandchildren, Sidney Alexander, of Houston, TX, Holt Alexander, of Houston, TX and Kadence Morris, of Tyler, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Terrell Morris and Stella Rosier Morris and his brother Rodney Terrell Morris. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 10:00 am at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Paducah. Rev.
