Isaac Ruger Thweatt, 1-month-old son of Jacob M. Thweatt and Aliviana (Martin) Thweatt of Benton, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Marshall County Hospital. His family attends Sanctuary Church of God Church in Aurora. He is survived by one brother, Isaiah Thweatt, and two sisters, Addyson Thweatt and Skie Thweatt, all of Benton; his grandparents, Robert and Tonya Thweatt, Richard and Paula Martin, and Starla Woodbrey, all of Benton; and his great-grandparents, Shirley Kidd of Symsonia, Bob Thweatt, George Woodbrey, and Stanford Beck, all of Benton. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Gene Kidd, Maria Thweatt, and Patricia and Noris Grissom. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2014, at Brewers Cemetery. Reverend Albert Gaboriault and Robert Thweatt officiating. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday at Collier Funeral Home in Benton.

Marilyn Sue Craven, 55, of Paducah died at 11:35 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014, at her home. She was of the Church of God faith. She is survived by her husband, Paul K. Craven; three sons, Richard Baker and Tim Watkins, both of Paducah, and Matthew Watkins of Ledbetter; two brothers, Harlan Smith of Calvert City and Thomas Earl Wallace of Vicksburg, Miss.; one sister, Reba Rushing of New Columbia, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Her parents were Thomas Edward Wallace and Tersea (Simmons) Wallace. Services will be at noon on Friday, June 27, 2014, at Hughes Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Tim Turner officiating. Ruth Purcell, 85, of Boaz, passed away at 10:38am Tuesday June 24, 2014 at her home. Ruth was born in Symsonia, on September 4, 1928. She was retired from Eli Lilly Drug Company and International Shoe Company. Ruth was also of the Baptist faith. Survivors include one son, Terry Allen Purcell and wife Marilyn of St. Charles, Mo.; one sister, Betty Miller and husband Bill of McHenry, Il.; one brother, David Waldrop and wife Kay of Boaz; three grandchildren, Lori Phan and husband Thao, Danielle Ottinger and husband Matthew, and Gavin Purcell and his wife Elizabeth; seven great grandchildren, Chandler, Kailee, Tyler, Gabrielle, Mitchell, Lorissa, and Ellyana; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband Allan Purcell; parents, Theron Waldrop and Bessie Phillips Waldrop; one brother, Vernon Waldrop and two sisters, Audra Harrington and Emma Lou Waldrop. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday June 28, 2014 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at the Bolton Cemetery in Symsonia. Billy Joe Page, 86, of Paducah passed away at 12:00pm Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Superior Care Home. His valiant six year battle with health issues ended peacefully in the presence of his loved ones. Mr. Page was a committed Christian father and husband. As an active member of Margaret Hank Memorial Cumberland Presbyterian Church, he served as deacon, elder, Sunday school teacher, youth leader and sang in the choir. After a move to Lone Oak, he attended Lone Oak First Baptist Church. Billy Joe was born May 7, 1928 in Paducah to the late Omar J. Page and Ethel Lynn Page. He graduated from Augusta Tilghman High School in 1946 and attended Paducah Junior College, contributing to a lifelong love of learning. All of these activities produced many awards, including Duke of Paducah, Kentucky Colonel, American Red Cross and Boy Scouts of America. Many odd jobs in his youth helped prepare him for a long and productive thirty-two year career at the U.S. Postal Service. After retirement, he was an owner/broker of Page One Realty, followed by ten years as McCracken County Inspector. Billy Joe’s civic activities included a sixty year membership with Masonic Lodge #27, Lone Oak Lions Club, Boy Scout Leader, Scottish Rite, National Association of Postmasters, National Association of Realtors, and Gideon’s International. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Carolyn Manley Page. Their devoted marriage produced four children and their spouses; two daughters, Cindy McElya of Boise, Id, and Penny Gates of Paducah, KY.; and two sons, Martin Page of Orlando, Fl., and Gregg Page of Tampa, Fl.; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Omar J. Page and Ethel Lynn Page; one brother, Jimmie Page; one sister, Wanda Shelton; and one infant son, Michael Page. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. His grandson, the Reverend Randy Forrester of Charlotte, NC will officiate. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery. Betty Lawrence, 81, of Boaz, KY died Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 2:35 p.m. at her residence. Betty was a member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church and taught children’s Sunday School for many years. She was a graduate of Reidland High School. Betty was an avid reader and loved her books. She retired from the Ophthalmology Group where she worked for many years. Survivors include husband of 62 years, Wallace ‘Wally” Lawrence; two sons, Jeff Lawrence and wife Traci of Mayfield, KY, Mark Lawrence and wife Stacey of Paducah, KY; five grandchildren, Kates Haynes Carrell and husband Sean Carrell, Bryce Lawrence, Holden Berg, Josie Lavey and Leighton Lavey; one great- grandchild, Corbin Carrell. Preceding in death was her parents, Charles Chester and Ethel Sams Chester, one grand- child, Corey Sykes.
Services will be held Friday, June 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Dr. Willis Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Earl Ray Tabers, 76, of Murray died Tuesday, June 24, 2014. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Murray City Cemetery. Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home of Nashville, Tenn., is in charge of arrangements.

Services for Brian Keith Rouse, 51, of Paducah will be at 5 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2014, at New Greater Love Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Benny Heady officiating. Burial will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Maplelawn Park Cemetery. Mr. Rouse died at 11:11 a.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Lourdes Hospital. He was a member of the former Oakalone African Methodist Episcopal Church and was an environmental specialist at Lourdes Hospital. He had served in the U.S. Army. He is survived by one daughter, Laklyn Makenzye of Murray; his father, Burnett Lee Crice of Mesa, Calif.; his mother, Iva R. Rouse Pullen of Paducah; his stepfather, Marshall Pullen of Paducah; one sister, Michelle Pullen of Louisville; three aunts; and several cousins. Friends may call at the church after 4 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2014. Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
