Betty Ruth Riley, 78, of Paducah, KY died Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Baptist Health Care of Paducah. Betty was a member of Southland Baptist Temple, and a homemaker. She was a poll worker for many elections during the years.
Survivors include three daughters, Ruthann Henley and husband Bobby of Reidland, KY, Debbie Wilson and Lois Argo both of Paducah, KY; two sons, Jesse Wiggins and wife Vickie of Paducah, KY, Harold Riley and wife Kathryn of Paducah, KY; one sister, Maudie Laverne Dick, two brothers, Paul Worley and wife Pam of Heath, KY, Donnie Worley, Princeton, KY; 11 grandchildren, Shanna (Shannon) Crockett, Adam (Heather) Reams), Robert Reams, Sarah (Craig) Hamilton, Grant (Olivia) Wiggins, Andrew (Jessica) Argo, Mary Riley, Jonathan Riley, Emily Wilson, Morgan Wiggins and Melody Buchanan; 13 great-grandchildren, Mark Reams, Jakob Reams, Sam Crockett, Sarina Hamilton, Alex Spears, Hattie Crockett, Thomas Argo, Elijah Hamilton, Cheyann Argo, Laney Reams, Wesley Reams, Corbyn Hamilton and Max Wiggins, several nieces and nephews. Preceding in death were husband, Jimmie L. Riley, parents, Sherwood "Bernie" Stephens and Hattie Pearl Kell, one brother, Melvin "Eugene" Worley. Services will be held Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Topper Council officiating. Burial will follow at the Riley Cemetery in Golo. Edwin Daniel "Dan" McDermott, 42, passed away at his home in Orlando, FL on Monday, August 25, 2014. Dan was born in Paducah, KY on June 19, 1972. He was a 1990 graduate of Lone Oak High School and a graduate of Murray State University. He was survived by his partner, Jason Doll of Orlando, FL; his mother, Gayle Daniel McDermott; father and step-mother, Eddy and Delinda McDermott all of Paducah, KY; his sister, Stephanie McDermott and her husband Scott Simmons; niece, Claire McDermott; nephew, Colton Simmons all of Lexington, KY; and sister by marriage Kala Talley Shihady of Kevil, KY. There was a celebration of Dan's life in Orlando, FL. The family celebrated and will continue to celebrate our love for Dan by reminiscing with photos, sharing happy memories and comforting messages from close friends. Virginia Mae Lynn, 84, of Paducah, KY passed away Monday, September 1, 2014 at the Tristar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN. She was a homemaker. Virginia was a member of the Lone Oak United Methodist Church and was a 1950 graduate of Augusta Tilghman High School. She is survived by her daughter, Terrie Croxall and husband Mark of Nashville, TN; son, Mark Lynn and wife Tammie of Paducah, KY; sister, Dorris Ann Mason and husband Marvin of Paducah, KY; grandchildren, Taylor Katherine Lynn, Emilie Morgan Jones and several nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Harold Lynn and her sister, Helen Lauren Dawes. Her parents were David B. Sigler and Dessie Pauline Sigler. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with the Rev. Steve Cavitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.

J. C. Smith, 90, of Paducah, KY passed away at 1:56 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Lourdes Hospital. He was born in St. Charles, KY. J. C. was the co-owner of the former Peggy's Ladies Apparel Shop, he was manager of the former Weille's Department Store and had worked at Modine Manufacturing. He was a member of the St. Thomas More Catholic Church. J. C. served in the United States Air Force during WWII. He is survived by his daughters, Paula Oleary and husband Bill of Houston, TX, Becky Bowers and husband Joe of Paducah, KY; sons, Buzz Smith and wife Janie of Paducah, KY and Chris Smith of Paducah, KY; sister, Joyce Smith Oglesby of Madisonville, KY; former daughter-in-law, Lucinda Smith of Paducah, KY; grandchildren, Billy Oleary of Houston, TX, Sarah Hernandez of Houston, TX, Jackie Wagner Long of Benton, KY, Reed Smith of Bowling Green, KY, Ross Smith of Jackson, MS, Joseph Christopher Smith, III of Paducah, KY; great grandchildren, Aurora Hernandez, Liam Hernandez, Lucyanne Long, Bode Long and several nieces and nephews. J. C. was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Thomas Smith and one son, Paul Reed Smith. His parents were George David Smith and Cora Mae Carroll Smith. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Rev. Brandon Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

Robert " R.L./Bobby " Martin, 74, of Paducah, died Tuesday September 2, 2014 at Baptist Health Paducah following a lengthy illness. Mr. Martin was born June 15, 1940. He graduated in the PTHS class of 1958. He served in the security division of the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1962. He was a member of the Paducah Jaycees. Mr. Martin held a machinist apprenticeship certificate from ICRR and worked for the railroad six years before going to work for Union Carbide. He retired from Martin Marietta in 1999 following 30 years of service. He was a long time member of Olivet Baptist Church where he oversaw the sound system for services and special events. He assisted in establishing and running the security program at Olivet 4 Kids childcare ministry. Mr. Martin is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sherry Miller Martin of Paducah; one son, Damon Martin and wife Kristi of Brookport IL; one daughter, Dana Martin Collins and husband Steven of Paducah; one sister, Mary Martin Walters of Marion, IL; six grandchildren, Kaylor Martin and Katie Martin , both of Brookport, IL; William Collins, Maxson Collins, Stevie Collins, and Elizabeth Collins, all of Paducah; and several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Allen and Mary Frank Ely Martin. Friends may offer condolences to the family on Friday, September, 5, 2014 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday,September, 6, 2014 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Keith Culp and Rev. Skip Parsons officiating.
