Bryan Stewart, Jr. 91, of Paducah, died Thursday at 6:05pm at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Bryan was born in Paducah on July 10, 1923 to the late Bryan Stewart, Sr. and Esther Beyer Stewart. He served in the Marine Corp during World War II and retired after 40 years as Chief Clerk Illinois Central Railroad. He was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he served as Treasurer of the Methodist Men's Fellowship. Bryan was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and University of Kentucky Wildcats fan. Funeral services will be held at 1pm Monday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Revs. Jerry Jeffords and Susan Engle officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery. Patricia "Pat" Berry Thomas, 87, of Paducah died at 11:32 p.m., Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Baptist Health Care Paducah. Pat was a native of Knoxville, TN and was a retired Dental Assistant. Pat was a member of the American Legion Auxillary #144 in Gilbertsville, KY. She loved her many trips to the Smokey Mountains and being able to cook and visit with her family which was the highlight of her day. She enjoyed watching the many birds at their feeders. Darvin S. Higgins, age 81, of Reidland, KY, passed away at 8:34 a.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at his residence. Martha Ann Jones, nee Gardner, went to meet her Lord and Savior on January 11th at 8:22AM. She was born to Edd and Lorena Gardner at home on North 22nd Street on August 2nd, 1932 in Paducah, Kentucky Martha was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She especially enjoyed being with her family during holiday gatherings and was renowned by those closest to her for her jam cake and Christmas float. Like her mother, Martha excelled in cooking for family celebrations and Sunday afternoon dinners. Prior to her unfortunate stroke, she was very active, enjoying exercise classes, square dancing, participation in her church choir with her husband Charles, and playing cards with friends. She loved life and was known for a quick wit that was not diminished by her stroke. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Mrs Helen Sims and the staff of Superior Care Nursing Home for their excellent care of Martha.
Martha attended Reidland High School, graduating in 1950. She also attended Draughn's Business College and worked for 23 years at Western Baptist Hospital, retiring in September 1994. Following her retirement, Martha and her husband Charles worked diligently for 12 years at Martha's Vineyard to deliver meals to the homebound. She also liked to sneak treats to her customers' pets. Irene was a retired bookkeeper for Don Peck Moving and Storage Company. She was a member of the Southland Baptist Temple and the Hendron Lioness Club. Glenda L. Timmons, age 75, of Paducah, KY, passed away at 4:59 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2015 at Baptist Health Paducah. Mrs. Timmons was of the Pentecostal and Baptist Faith and she was a retired hairdresser and co-owner of Jimmy's Hairstylest. Glenda was a lifelong servant of Jesus Christ who was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She was proud of her grandchildren and loved watching them as they accomplished their life's goals and dreams. She was a talented artist and was known for her sense of humor and ability to tell a great story. She will be greatly missed, but her family is thankful for the promise of eternal life. Mary Ruth "Debbie" Walker, 72, of Paducah, died January 2, 2015 at Baptist Health-Paducah. Mary Ruth was born in Anna, IL and was of the Baptist faith. She was the "best mama ever" to son, Vince Walker of Paducah. Private graveside services will take place at a later date at Wilmington Cemetery in West Paducah. Louise Long Wiman, 95,longtime resident of Paducah, KY was received by her heavenly Father on 1/13/15.She was born on November 16, 1919 to Jim and Cora Long in Chattanooga, Tennessee where she was an active member of Ridgedale Baptist Church. She attended the University of Chattanooga and worked as a bookkeeper for Hamilton National Bank and United Hosiery Mill. On November 17, 1957 Louise married the Reverend Wayne Wiman and became at once both a preacher's wife and mom to Wayne's teenage son David and six-year old daughter Vicki. She set an example as a loving, devoted wife, mother, and servant to the congregations. Together, Wayne and Louise Wiman served at churches in Chattanooga, TN, Fayetteville, TN; Paducah, KY; and Sturgis, KY. They "retired" in Paducah.
Louise was honored as a KY Colonel and Duchess of Paducah. She was the oldest member of Margaret Hank Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Paducah, KY. She lived at Jackson Oaks Retirement Community for 9.5 years and Fountain View Nursing home in Eldorado, IL for the past year. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2015 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah, 120 Memorial Drive Paducah, KY with Rev. Mary Parson, Rev. Chris Fleming and Rev. Mariann Lankton officiating. Private burial at Maplelawn Park Cemetery will follow.
