Mrs. Shell was a member of Joppa Missionary Baptist Church. Services are scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 1:00 PM, in the chapel of Boyd Funeral Director's in Salem, KY. Mr. William Glen Cartwright, age 85, of Metropolis, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at the Metropolis Rehab and Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2015, at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Mr. Cartwright was born on March 22, 1930, and graduated from Butler High School in May of 1948. He was a Navy veteran, serving from January 1949 to January 1950, and married Dorla Stallings on June 8, 1952. Bill was a member of the First Christian Church in Princeton and Metropolis, and was a deacon, board chairman, Sunday school teacher and elder. Mr. Cartwright was a warehouse manager and purchasing agent at D.W.I. in Paducah for 40 plus years.

James Melvin Jackson, age 92, of Paducah, passed away at home on May 18, 2015, at 1:00 AM. Melvin was born November 18, 1922, in Kirbyton, where he lived most of his life. He graduated from Milburn High School and served his country in World War II for three years from November 1942 to November 11, 1945, in Europe with the 320th Infantry. He worked as a lab supervisor with USEC where he was known as "Jim". He retired after 42 years of service. Melvin was a deacon at Kirbyton Baptist Church where he served as treasurer for 35 years. H. Earl Feezor, 89, of Paducah, died Monday at his home. Earl was born on March 2, 1926 in Louisville, KY to the late Herman George Feezor and Myrtle Bradley Feezor. He was a 1944 graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in April, 1944 and served with the First Marine Division in the South Pacific until he was honorably discharged in April,1946. He received the Silver Star for bravery in action and the Purple Heart for being wounded in the line of duty. In addition, he received the American Victory Medal for World War II, Asiatic-Pacific Medal, China Medal, American Theatre Ribbon and Presidential Unit Citation. Throughout his 37-year career with Western Baptist Hospital, Inc., Earl worked his way through the ranks, ultimately becoming CEO/President. Earl was a member of Lions Club of Paducah, President of Paducah Credit Managers Association, Chairman of Sub-committee on Public Housing, City of Paducah, Duke of Paducah, and Kentucky Colonel. Mrs. Alice Bea (Bailey) Johnston, 93, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away Monday, May 18, 2015, at 5:06 a.m. at Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis, Illinois. She was a member of Sharpe Church of Christ, where she was one of the original members of its present location at 7707 U.S. Hwy 68 West, Benton, KY 42025. Born Monday, March 27, 1922, in Marshall County, Kentucky, she answered the call during World War II to move to Evansville, Indiana, where she and her sister worked as Riveters during the war effort. She and her husband Bruce moved to Paducah where they lived, worshiped, and raised their family. In 1971 they returned to the Sharpe community. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015, at 1 p.m. at the Sharpe Church of Christ, Sharpe, Kentucky. Mike Fields will officiate. Congregational singing will be led by her son, Mike Johnston.
