God created man in His own image? What happened to cause man to be as he is today? Like Humpty Dumpty man had a great fall. We can read all about it in Genesis 3.
As the old McGuffey’s Reader said, “In Adam’s fall, we sinned all.” As the head of his rae, Adam’s sin caused all his descendants to be born with a sin nature.
Sin and Sins
Sin (singular), our nature, leads to sins (plural), our actions. In our politically correct society sins have been redefined to make them more acceptable.
The sociologist calls sin “cultural lag.” The psychologist calls sin “emotional behavior.” The philosopher calls sin “irrational thinking.” The Marxist calls sin “class struggle.” A philandering congressman called sin “a bit of foolishness.” One good old boy said sin is “cussedness.”
We had better look in the Word and see what God calls it. God calls sin “and abomination.” John defined the sin of commission as “the transgression of the law.” James defined the sin of Omission as “he who knows to do good and does not do it.” Dr. C.D. Cole took all the biblical descriptions of sin and summed it up as “Moral distance from the Divine Holiness.” Sin has left a swath of destruction that reached down through the ages from the gates of Eden to this present day. Sin will take you farther than you want to go and will keep you longer than you want to stay!
There Is A Remedy!
Just on remedy! “my little chidresn, these things I write unto you, that you sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but for the sins of the whole world.” (1 john 2:1-2)
