Wickliffe – On October 10th the Wickliffe City Council held a special call meeting to discuss putting a new roof on the recently acquired elementary school.  Back in April of this year, Mayor Lynn Hopkins informed the Council Members that the city purchased the schoolhouse.  At that time, the schoolhouse was to be tested for asbestos and also to determine what type of improvements needed to be made.

At the current meeting, Council Member David Phillips informed the Council Members that he wants to put a new roof on the schoolhouse. Phillips said, “We had four inches of rain last weekend and the cafeteria roof is leaking.”  Phillips continued by saying that they cannot get the schoolhouse cleaned up until a new roof is put on it.

City Maintenance Supervisor Guy Johnson stated that D & G Roofing submitted the lowest bid in the amount of $12,755 for the trusses, metal, framing and other materials. Johnson continued by saying that the labor costs is $8,950.  A motion was made and passed 4 to 2 to install a new roof on the schoolhouse. Council Members Chris Halteman and Kathy Hurt voted against the motion.
