First reading of golf cart riding approved during Carlisle County Fiscal Court Meeting

BARDWELL ‑ The Carlisle County Fiscal Court meeting was held on October 1. Those attending were Judge/ Executive Greg Terry, Magistrates Burley Mathis, Lloyd Presson, Sonny Pearson, Treasure Susan Bailey, Secretary Brandi Webb, Attorney Mike Hogancamp, Ambulance Director Wayne Floyd, 911and Solid Waste Director Josh Glover, Sheriff Steve Perry, Carlisle County Clerk Michael Toon, Carlisle County Emergency Management Director Carissa Viniard, Jailer Ronnie Owens, Road Dept. Supervisor Jerry Bowman, Visitors included Milburn Fire Chief Ernie Scarritt, Kelly Laird, Sara Bennett with the Carlisle Weekly, and Lilly Morefield with the Carlisle County News.

The meeting was called to order at 9:30AM, Judge Terry welcomed everyone for attending.

After the roll call and pledge of allegiance a motion made by Presson and 2nd by Mathis was approved to accept the minutes of the previous meeting.

Ambulance Director Wayne Floyd updated on the monthly runs stating there were 135 ambulance runs and 2 air runs. He also stated money collected for the month was $14,751.68.

 Carissa Viniard Director of Emergency Management briefed on a meeting that was held with the local Fire and Rescue Members, herself, Judge/Executive Greg Terry, and Brandi Webb. She stated things that were discussed were training hours, and fundraisers.

Jail Report, Owens stated there is 5 inmate in Hickman and 3 in Ballard Detention Center. He stated that after a hearing tomorrow Mr. Jones would be moved to a state hospital.

 During the Road Report Bowman stated the road department now has two guys mowing, and that the road crews are grading on gravel roads, and working on culverts.

Sheriff Report County Sheriff Steve Perry stated that tax bills will be mailed out tomorrow.

911 and Solid Waste Glover stated the department had 199 calls with 92 being cell phones. He also updated on the new phone system and stated that Carlisle County only has one option and that is to go with Central Kentucky Networks, he stated a representative will be here on the 15th and will go over everything about the service and that the they will be ready to go into a contract in December.

New Business; Ernie Scarritt briefed on a fire truck for the Milburn Fire Department. He stated it is a 1999 Freightliner that has an 89 gal tank and a 500 gal pump. Scarritt stated that they would be trading in the two old fire trucks they now have. A motion made was approved for the Milburn Fire Department to purchase the truck.

Other new business included A motion made and approved to pass resolution for Extension /Ambulance building. Also First reading of Ordinance #13-10-1 for the use of Golf Carts on certain roads in the county, the county roads have to be in a 35 MPH Speed Limit and operators have to have a valid drivers license. 

Judge Terry briefed on a Poker Run that will be held on Carlisle County Riding Trail in the river bottoms.  The Poker Run will be held Oct. 5, and is for ATV/ UTV Trucks, Jeeps, etc. It will start at Indian Campground at 10AM with sign up at 9AM. There is a $10 enter fee.

After motions to approve the transfers and pay claims the meeting was adjourned.

 Terry stated that he has had some residents stating they would like to donate to the Carlisle County KY Executive Chair for the Governors Mansion. Jane Beshear sent a letter to each county in Kentucky asking if they would be interested in purchasing a chair for $1000.  The Executive Mansion is in the process of being redecorate and Mrs. Beshear would like to represent each county with a chair and a plaque.  Anyone that would like to donate to the chair can contact the Judge’s Office.

Other motions made and approved were the transfers and claims.

A motion was made and carried to adjourn the meeting.

The next Fiscal Court Meeting will be held on Tuesday October 15.
