KOKOMO - Rick L. Gifford, 74, Kokomo, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at his home.

Rick was a United States Navy veteran.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Gifford; daughters, Tonya (Darren) Williams and Cathy Fouch; ten grandchildren; siblings, William B. "Ben" Gifford Jr and Stephen Gifford, along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service were held on Monday, April 12, 2021, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Jeff Harlow officiating. Burial in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Navy and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team.

MARION - Lucille D. First, 87, Marion, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021.

Lucille is survived by her daughter, Deborah L. (Elvin) Ritter; sons, Michael (Linda) First, Sr. of Valrico, FL and Omer "Butch" (Mariann) First, Jr.; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; and friend, Jo Marie Robinson.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Lucille's life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, April 16, 2021, at the Holy Family Catholic Church. Rev. Sean Pogue will be officiating with burial following at Estates of Serenity.

MARION - Terry Johnson, 71, of Marion, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021, at Wesleyan Health Care & Rehabilitation Center in Marion.

Terry was a United States Army veteran during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his mother, Margaret Woods; wife, Kathleen Johnson; brother, Booker T. Johnson, Jr.; sisters, Hattie Kirk, Roxanne Newbill, Brenda Newbill, Linda O'Kelly, Kathy Watson, Olivia Fowler, Demetria Thompson, and Faye Gaskin; god-son and god-daughter, Scott and Andrea Burns; grandson, Joseph Burns; as well as a multitude of friends.

The family will host a private graveside service followed by burial at Marion National Cemetery with Chaplain Randy Thornburg officiating.

FISHERS - PJ Corey, 45, Fishers, passed away in her home on Sunday, April 11, 2021.

PJ is survived by her parents Philip and Bobbie Corey; daughters, Reagan Rutowski and Rylyn Rutowski; sisters, Rachelle (Greg) Roush, and Teresa (Tim) Templin; several nieces and nephews; and special dog, Phoebe.

MARION - Larry D. Chandler, 69, of Marion, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family.

MARION - Cherline Ann Clark, 73, Marion, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Cherline is survived by her four daughters, Lisa A. (Paul D., Sr.) Barger, Stephanie J. (Darol) Floyd, Michelle Clark, and Heather Clark; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Lou Boyer and Barbara Jo Schlechty; and three brothers, Jack (Millie) Mauller, Junior (Georgia "Aunt Georgie") Mauller, and Bob (Kay) Mauller.

The memorial visitation for Cherline will take place from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, April 16, 2021, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN 46952.

Immediately following visitation, a memorial service to celebrate Cherline's life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Al Soultz officiating. Interment will follow at Grant Memorial Park.

JONESBORO - Ethel Kathryn "Katie" Ward, 81, Jonesboro, passed away in her home on Friday, April 9, 2021.

Katie is survived by her husband Charles W. Ward; her daughters, Tina Huey and Lottie (Jeff) Bendt; three granddaughters; one great-grandson; brothers, John May and Dean May; sisters, Frances Kernicky and Cindy Huffaker; and several nieces and nephews.

VAN BUREN - Raymond Eugene Eccles, 64, of Van Buren, went home to the Lord on Friday morning at his daughter's home, surrounded by loved ones.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Kimberly K. Eccles; daughters, Chelsea (George) Eccles, Christy (Carl) Johnson; sons, Adam (Claudia) Satterthwaite, Michael Weinley; two special grandsons; brothers, Melvin (Tamara) Eccles, Mike (Jennifer) Eccles; and sisters, Marsha "Toots" (Rex) Pearson, Elesta "Drippy" Bishir, Margaret "Weezer" Chance.

Visitation is 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with Raymond's service beginning at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Burial is at Van Buren Cemetery. There will be a special dinner following for family and friends to come eat, fellowship, and share memories.

MUNCIE - Rex Charles Stiffler, 91, passed away on Friday morning, April 9, 2021 at Franciscan Health, Indianapolis.

Rex was a United States Army veteran during the Korean War.

He is survived by two daughters, Denise Bain (husband, John) and Nancy Malzon (husband, Ron); and one grandson.

Graveside services was held on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at the Elm Ridge Mausoleum at 2:30 p.m. with military honors provided by The United States Army.

Joan Roth Tayor

Muncie - Joan Roth Taylor, 88, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021.

Joan is survived by three children and their families: her son Bruce Taylor; daughter Kathy Gaydos, her husband Wayne and their children Josh, Jeanette, Jessica, Tiffany, and Trish; and daughter Carol Burt, her husband Gregg and their children Max and Clair.

At her request, services were private.

MUNCIE- Jerry Lee Johnson, 71, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday morning, April 11, 2021 at his residence.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Carol Delane Johnson (Henderson); a daughter Leanne Bowden (Sam); a son Jeremiah Johnson (Megan); five grandchildren; a brother Larry Johnson (Judy); a sister Sherri Wilson (Charlie); several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Celebration of Life for Jerry was held on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at The Meeks Mortuary & Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, with Pastor Linda Adams officiating.

MUNCIE - Billy J. Conwell, 53, passed away early Sunday morning, April 11, 2021 at his residence.

Billy is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Vickie Conwell; four children, Aaron Conwell, Christopher Conwell, Jessica McMichaels and Ashley (fiance, James Atkinson) Conwell and her two children, William Tyler and Averie Jean; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Dustin Conwell and "Little Bill" Hill; one sister, Diana Gruesbeck; many nieces and nephews; his step-mother, Diane Fields; and special friends, Ernie Minton, Barbara Muse, Stephanie Musik and Ronnie Adkins. Billy was an avid dog lover and is also survived by his beloved four-legged friends.

Memorial Services were held on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel. Cremation took place.

GAS CITY - L. Jane Burchette, 91, of Gas City, formerly of Tazewell, TN, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Marion General Hospital.

Jane is survived by her son, Mike (Lisa) Burchette; one grandson; two granddaughters; great-three granddaughters; one great-grandson; sister, Ann Ogan; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

KOKOMO - Kathryn "Kitty" Milligan, 95 years of age, Kokomo, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021, at Century Villa Health Care in Greentown, IN.

Kitty is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Duane) Keisling, and Pamela (Al) Baumgart; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ted Milligan; and sister-in-law.

Dick was a United States Army veteran.

JoAnn is survived by her nieces and nephews, Janet (Dave) Frey, Jim (Rhonda) Hurley, Karen Craig, Lynn Day, Mike Hurley, and Ann (Derk) Hopwood; great nieces and nephews; and several great-great nieces and nephews.

Richard P. Schaeffer, 90, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2021, at Rittenhouse Village in Michigan City.

Richard was a United States Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by his son, Mark Schaeffer and his wife Joanne; stepdaughter, Amy Schaeffer; stepson, Christopher Schaeffer and his wife Jamie; sister, Carolyn Shirley and her husband Bill; two granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Due to Covid restrictions, a private family memorial service will be observed at a later date with full military honors.

HUNTINGBURG - Nina May Mathias, age 58, of Huntingburg, passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

Nina is survived by her husband, David Wayne Mathias of Huntingburg, Ind.; two children, Heather (Kurt) Hoing and David (Amanda) Mathias both of Huntingburg, Ind.; her father, Jack Lee (Diane) Bell of Friendsville, Illinois; two siblings, Bill (Valerie) Bell of Smiley, Texas and Shirley Bell of Winslow, Ind.; three step-brothers, Rick, Tim and Mark Dyer; nieces and nephews; and two grandchildren, Tabitha and Dedrick.

Mary is survived by one son, Dayne Kay (Bertha) Hartke of Stendal; her caregivers, Joe and Karen Thomas of Holland; and by six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Friday, April 9, 2021, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Stendal with burial in the church cemetery. Pastor Ed Wicks officiated the service.

VELPEN - Sharon Roxanna Austin, age 80, of Velpen, passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021, at her home.

Sharon is survived by two daughters, Brenda Roxanna (Kevin) Gerber of Birdseye and Mary Katherine (Doug) Crooks of Spurgeon; two sisters, Roberta (Dick) Bruce of Indianapolis and Janice Burton of Haubstadt; one brother, Robert "Bob" Lee of Augusta; her sister-in-law, Margie Lee; and by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Friday, April 9, 2021, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial at Cup Creek Cemetery near Velpen. Pastor Terry Russell officiated at the service.
