Omer Eugene "Gene" Mitchell

HUNTINGBURG - Omer Eugene "Gene" Mitchell, age 86, of Huntingburg, Duff area, Indiana, passed away at 8:55 p.m., on Wednesday, January 5th, 2022, at The Waters of Huntingburg.

He was born December 17, 1935, in Eckerty, IN, to Albert and Dovie (King) Mitchell, Sr. Gene retired from the maintenance department at Jasper Rubber Company.

He is survived by his daughter and caregiver, Lisa Moore of Troy; two sons, Wayne (Dawn) Mitchell of Colorado and Wesley Mitchell of Huntingburg; his longtime companion, Sharon Coons who he always referred to as "My Sweetie"; a sister, Mayme Lytle of Oakland City; eight grandchildren, Shauna, Cherish, Natasha, Jeremy, Dustin, Misty, Maria, Shawn; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services for Omer Eugene Mitchell were held at 2:00 p.m., E.S.T., on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Burial at Mayo Cemetery. Ryan Stiles will officiate the service.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, the day of the service. Condolences may be shared online at: www.nassandson.com

Danny Ray Stutsman

HUNTINGBURG - Danny Ray Stutsman, age 69, of Huntingburg, passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022, at his residence.

He was born August 20, 1952, in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Robert R. and Leona F. (Lemond) Stutsman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Linda Stutsman and Joyce Ewing.

He is survived by one son, Brian Stutsman of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; and seven siblings, Margie Thompson of San Antonio, Texas, Norma Wooden of Hatfield, Indiana, David Stutsman of Huntingburg, Roger Stutsman of Huntingburg, James Stutsman of Hatfield, Indiana, Teresa Weitkamp of Evansville and Cathy Sibrel of Haysville.

Mary Jean (Jeanne) Schurz

Mary Jean (Jeanne) Schurz, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on January 14, 2022. We celebrate Jeanne's life and love as we remember her. She was a friend and inspiration to many, and filled the hearts of all who knew her with kindness and joy.

Loved ones that will miss Jeanne dearly are her husband, Gary Schurz; her brother, Gary Fritz; her daughter, Heather Schurz Kissling, and son-in-law, Matthew Kissling; her daughter, Taffita (Taffi) Schurz Jaso, and son-in law, Eric Jaso; and her grandchildren Keating and Lyra. Loved ones that preceded Jeannie and welcomed her home were her father and mother, Otto and Mary Lou Fritz.

Visitation will be at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand on Monday, January 17, from 6-8:00pm. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, January 18, at 10am, with visitation starting at 9am Eastern Time.

Charles Stallman

SANTA CLAUS - Charles Stallman, 85, of Santa Claus, passed away on Thursday, January 13th at Scenic Hills at the Monastery in Ferdinand.

Charles was born August 23, 1936 in Mariah Hill to Emil and Clara (Strobel) Stallman.

Charles was preceded in death by his first wife, Larissa Panczilius and his second wife, JoAnn Furmanic.

He is survived by his companion, Anna Worth of Santa Claus; one son, Paul Stallman of Boling Brooke, IL; one brother, David (Margie) Stallman of Ferdinand; a sister, Emma Lee Stallman of Ferdinand; twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; three nieces and three nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by three brothers, Bernard, Eugene and Albert Stallman; a grandson, Matthew Stallman.

Funeral services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Chicago.

Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Bartley Roos

FERDINAND - Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Bartley Roos, 85, of Ferdinand, passed away on Saturday, January 8th at Scenic Hills at the Monastery in Ferdinand.

Betty was born March 1, 1936 in Ferdinand to Walter and Lucille (Weyer) Bartley. She married Edward P. Roos II on November 27, 1954 in St. Ferdinand Church.

Betty is survived by her husband, Edward Roos II of Ferdinand; one daughter, Glenda (Robert "Bots") Marlin of Newburgh, three sons, Edward P. Roos III of Holland, Michael Roos Ferdinand and Chris (Tina) Roos of Ferdinand; one sister, Pearline (Cleon) Brahm of Ferdinand; six grandchildren, Frank Roos, Brock (Lisa) Flamion, Shayna Roos and fiance' Kevin Ulery, Jayme (Tirey) Burch, Katelyn Roos and fiance' Nathan Pike, and Lauren Roos. Two step-grandchildren, Rob (Alicia) Marlin, and Julia (Dustin) Behr. One great-grandson Calum Burch.

Betty was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, Debbie Roos and her parents, Walter & Lucille Bartley.

Funeral services were held on Thursday January 13th at 11:00 AM eastern in St. Ferdinand Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Carol E. Linxwiler

PRINCETON - Carol E. Linxwiler, 85, of Princeton, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at home.

She was born July 2, 1936 in Princeton to the late Alvin and Locie (Smith) Jarvis.

Carol is survived by her children, Dale Young (Lisa) of Princeton, Dennis Young of Petersburg, Randy Young of Princeton, Sandra Boling (Mark) of Mt. Olympus and Kristina Harper (Walter Estie) of Owensville; grandchildren, Shannon, Jason, Brandy, Jerome, Kimberly, Cristy, Shaina, Britnie, Alex and Rachel; 9 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Houchins; and several nieces and nephews including one special niece, Beverly Sue Kelly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings, Martha Morris, Naomi Jarvis, Gilbert Jarvis and Harvey Jarvis.

A funeral service was held at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton officiated by Pastor Joe Henson. Interment at Oddfellows Cemetery in Princeton.

Harry Denby Sauter

Harry Denby Sauter, 97, was ushered into the presence of His Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, at 12:44 pm on Sunday, January 9, 2022, in Rockledge, FL.

Born on September 6, 1924, on his family farm, in Grandview, IN to Alex and Flossie Sauter, Harry graduated from Grand View High School where he served as class president in 1942.

Harry was a United states Navy veteran.

After the war, he studied at, and graduated from, Purdue University in 1950, with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Soon thereafter married Norma Ruth Cornwell of Rossville, IN. Harry and Norma would move to Bremerton, WA where he worked briefly for a torpedo factory before returning to Indiana to work for American Kitchens in Connersville. It was then when Harry and Norma placed their faith in Jesus, while at First Baptist Church, and would strive to live in obedience to His commands.

In Connersville, Harry and Norma would start their family. In 1954, Norma gave birth to Mark, their firstborn son, and in 1960, their second son Matthew, would be born in Evansville, IN in 1960.

Harry was a man of truth, integrity, and prayer and had direct influence in his sons following Christ and being involved in mission work. He was a founding member of Broadway Baptist Church, Princeton, in 1960 and taught Sunday School throughout his time there.

After his beloved wife passed away in 1987, Harry purchased a condo in Melbourne Beach, FL and in 1988 retired from his long career as an engineer, but he continued doing consulting work in quality assurance. He loved his Lord Jesus and those who were a part of the local congregations where he served!

Memorial services to be held Saturday, January 29th, at 10:30am at Central Baptist Church in Melbourne, FL.

Curtis Lee Gourley

PRINCETON - Curtis Lee Gourley, 64, of Princeton, passed away Monday, January 3, 2022 at The Waters of Princeton.

Curtis is survived by his sister, Brenda Peterson; nieces and nephews, Kevin Peterson, Josh Peterson, Joe Peterson, Sarah Boling, and Shana Peterson; great-nieces and great-nephews, Atlee Boling, Ariana Boling, Axton Boling, and Kennedy Peterson; and caregiver and friend, Donnie Truelock.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service was held on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Colvin Funeral Home officiated by Donnie Truelock and Rev. Andrew Johnson. Interment at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Princeton.
