ARLINGTON, Ky. (KT) - A Carlisle County man has been indicted for murder after an investigation by the Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post in Mayfield, into an incident where his mother died of injuries suffered earlier this month

On Wednesday, January 10, Tyler Prince called 9-1-1 to request an ambulance for his mother, Jessica Gerth. Prince reported that Gerth had fallen in the home and needed medical attention.

Upon her arrival at Mercy Health Paducah, physicians observed multiple injuries to Gerth, which appeared to be inconsistent with a fall. The injuries to Gerth were so severe that she was transported to a Tennessee trauma center, where she was listed in critical condition.

Due to the suspicious circumstances, Kentucky State Police was contacted and began investigating the incident. The investigation included interviews of other members of Gerth's household. As a result of the investigation, 20-year-old Tyler Prince was charged with Assault 1st Degree (Domestic Violence) and was taken to the Ballard County Jail.

On Friday, January 12, State Police investigators were notified that Jessica Gerth's condition had quickly deteriorated and she had succumbed to her injures. As a result, Tyler Prince was also charged with Murder (Domestic Violence), by the KSP.

On Thursday, January 18, a Kentucky State Police detective testified before a Carlisle County Grand Jury. The Grand Jury voted to indict Tyler Prince for both charges of Assault 1st Degree and Murder. Hee remains lodged in the Ballard County Jail on a $250,000 full cash bond.

Prince is scheduled for a pre-trial conference on March 7, at Carlisle Circuit Court.
