CALVERT CITY, Ky. (WSIL) -- Churchill Downs Incorporated will officially expand its western Kentucky footprint next week with the grand opening of Marshall Yards Racing & Gaming.
The $40 million gaming and entertainment complex, located at 65 Campbell Drive, is scheduled to open its doors to the public at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25. The facility is situated at the high-traffic intersection of Interstate 24 and Interstate 69.
The 23,000-square-foot venue features more than 225 state-of-the-art historical racing machines, a sports bar, and a retail sportsbook. The complex also offers simulcast wagering and multiple food and beverage options, including the "Wet Your Whistle" restaurant.
Officials expect the project to create approximately 100 permanent jobs in Marshall County. The property will operate as an annex of Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel, with revenues supporting purse funding for the Oak Grove racetrack.
"This investment will create new jobs, drive tourism, and strengthen the economic vitality of Marshall County and its surrounding communities," Bill Carstanjen, CEO of Churchill Downs Incorporated, said in a statement.
The festivities will begin with a media preview at 9 a.m., followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. The event will feature live entertainment, giveaways, and a special donation to Marshall County Caring Needline, a local nonprofit providing emergency food and utility assistance to families in need.
