Stabbing Suspect Arrested After Regional Law Enforcement Effort

On August 24, 2025, the Mayfield Police Department was dispatched to the 200 block of North 4th Street following reports of a stabbing. The Graves County Sheriff's Office also responded. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 39-year-old male suffering from a stab wound to the back. First aid was administered, and the victim was transported by EMS to Jackson Purchase Medical Center before being airlifted to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, where he remains in stable condition.

Through a joint investigation, authorities identified the suspect as 39-year-old Victor Manuel Moya-Hernandez of Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Cairo Police Department located his vehicle at a hotel in Cairo, Illinois. With assistance from a Ballard County Sheriff's Deputy with a K-9 unit and an Alexander County Sheriff's Deputy, Moya-Hernandez was located inside a hotel room and arrested without incident.

Moya-Hernandez is being held at the Pulaski County Detention Center in Illinois, awaiting extradition to Graves County on a charge of First-Degree Assault.

This case highlights the strength of law enforcement cooperation. Agencies from Kentucky and Illinois worked side by side to ensure a safe resolution, reminding us that even in the face of crime, our community remains united and protected.
