Weak links are no reason for defeat

Humanity is somewhat like plants. Everything God made has potential. It has potential to live and be productive or potential to die and fad away. Just like a plant, we are either living or dying, all the time. If a plant doesn't get water and proper nutrition, it will die. We are, spiritually, the very same. Without attendance to spiritual matters, we simply live -- and not live at the same time. There is no such thing as standing still. Even a bridge sways and has movement. Standing still is not an option.

We all have weak links, but that is no reason for defeat. You may have to take it one day at a time, but keep going. The main thing is to keep focused on wanting to do good. A person who drinks too much may try to get sober thousands of times, but keep trying. Just one more time. One more day. Some of us diet all the time because we want good health. Keep trying one more time. One more day.

Don't try to change in an instant, but say, "For today, I'm going to do the right thing. For today, I'm going to read the Bible. For today, I'm going to eat right. For today, I'm going to forgive. For today, I'm not going to be depressed." For whatever you're going through, say, "For today" and then do you best to get through that day undefeated. If you fall, get up again. For one more day.

Sometimes, you have to try just one more time. One more day. There is power in commitment.

Living the Christian life is a commitment to "each day". Take care of your spiritual health daily. Paul said, "I die daily". Everyday, he committed to do the right thing.

A weak link can be caused by many things, but very often its either resentment or guilt. It's the weak links we must work through and try one more time. One more day.

Resentment is caused by what other people have done to us. Guilt is caused by what we've done to other people. Both resentment and guilt are a weak link that can make a person miserable. Read Psalm 38:4-6. As King David penned those words, he was miserable. He said he felt terrible and strength evaporated out of his life. "I go mourning all day long", he said. "...because of my foolishness". Because of a weak link.

We must GUARD against resentment and guilt. Don't dwell on it. Try one more time. One more day. There is no reason for defeat. People try to play the victim card because it is so much easier than doing the right thing. Jesus has the power to redeem, even when we have lived a sinful life, or been sinned against.

The Bible says, God's mercy supersedes judgement. That's worth trying one more time. Hosea 10:12 says, "Dig up your fallow ground". Let the word of God, which is more powerful than any two-edged sword, revive your spirit. Try one more day. There is no reason for defeat. When God sees us, he doesn't see our imperfections. He sees the blood. Don't let your weak link be doubt. Doubt will weaken you, and possibly break the chain.

There is NO reason for DEFEAT - keep a good watch on the links in your life. Don't let weaknesses pull you down. Stay in the palm of his hands.

Very few things in life are permanent. We think they are, but they're not. Life is about change. About movement. Like a plant, we are either dying or growing, all the time. Grow one more day. Just one day at a time, and one day the sun will shine again.
