LEXINGTON, Ky. (KT) -- Ansley Almonor always wanted to play at Kentucky.

"It was always a dream of mine," he told Adam Zagoria of Zagsblog website. "Growing up, I had a picture of the (Kentucky) logo in front of my bed as a goal of mine. It's just crazy to think that I've achieved that goal but the job definitely isn't finished."

Almonor committed to the Wildcats on Thursday after a stellar career at Fairleigh Dickinson. Almonor, 6-foot-7, 220 pounds, averaged 16.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. He also shot 43.6 percent from the floor and connected on 93 shots from long range last season.

"(I've) got a lot more goals to accomplish but achieving a big one like this means a lot," he said. "I will bring my shooting ability, my toughness, my willingness to work and my winning attitude to this program, just to name a few."

Almonor is known as a shooter and drew praise from Farleigh Dickinson coach Jack Castleberry.

"Ansley's an elite shooter with size that has a great basketball IQ and a knack for knocking down big shots," Castleberry told Zagoria.

Purdue coach Matt Painter, whose Boilermakers lost to Farleigh Dickinson in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 2023, called Almonor a "great player" at the time.

'He can really stretch it but he can also drive the basketball," Painter said.
