PADUCAH, Ky. (August 9, 2023) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) and the Ballard County Road Department have closed a section of Deerfield Lane in southern Ballard County.

Deerfield Lane is closed 7/10ths of a mile west of KY 802/New York Road due to substructure deterioration on the Stovall Creek Bridge.

A KYTC inspector found substantial deterioration of timber pilings that support the bridge deck during a routine inspection this afternoon.

KYTC engineers will assist the Ballard County Road Department to evaluate the bridge in coming weeks to determine if it can be repaired or should be replaced.

KYTC District 1 and the Ballard County Fiscal Court will attempt to provide timely updates.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is responsible for inspecting all bridges on public roadways in the Commonwealth. Bridges get a detailed inspection every two years with long-span river and lake bridges getting an annual walk-through inspection.
