Jackson Purchase Medical Center (JPMC) recently published its community benefit report for the 2022 calendar year. The annual report outlines the various ways the hospital continues to invest in the health and economic vitality of Mayfield/Graves County as part of its mission of making communities healthier®.
"For 30 years this August, Jackson Purchase has been proud to call Mayfield our home, and as a leader in our community, we are continually seeking ways to make a positive impact for those we serve," said Dave Anderson, chief executive officer (CEO) of JPMC. "This year's report underscores our ongoing commitment to providing the highest quality care possible - both inside and outside our hospital walls."
JPMC's 2022 community benefit report highlights its continued efforts to meet the growing healthcare needs of its community through welcoming new providers, expanding service lines and continually investing in its facilities and healthcare technology. For example, in 2022, JPMC added six employed providers in family medicine, internal medicine, family medicine and obstetrics, and cardiology; and made more than $3.6 million in capital improvements, including modernizing elevators, adding a DEXA scanner to its imaging services, and expanding the Senior Behavioral Health Unit by six beds.
Additionally, JPMC made a donation of nearly $8.9 million in health services to those in need, demonstrating its continuous commitment to ensuring everyone has access to care, regardless of their ability to pay.
JPMC is also devoted to creating environments where providers want to practice and employees want to work. In 2022, the hospital distributed nearly $52 million in salaries, wages and benefits for its approximately 600 employees, while contributing more than $37,000 in professional development and tuition assistance so all its employees can have the opportunity to learn, grow and improve the care they provide their patients.
Last year, the organization paid $6,590,563 in local and state taxes, while also continuing its support of local activities and organizations committed to serving the region, including the Graves County Board of Education, Graves County Economic Development, Mayfield Graves County Parks and the Rotary Club of Mayfield, among others.
In addition to JPMC's local contributions in 2022, Lifepoint Health, who owns and operates the hospital, paid out $525,000 of its $1 million pledge to assist in the restoration of Mayfield following the December 2021 tornado. Recipients of the funds included the Mayfield-Graves County Needline and Food Pantry and the Purchase Area Development District (PADD) Food Bank, the Mayfield Graves Long-Term Recovery Group (LTRG), the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and the City of Mayfield.

"As we look ahead to the future, we remain committed to honoring our legacy while further enhancing the many ways we serve our neighbors and communities."
