LOUISVILLE, Ky. (KT) -- Right to Life of Louisville, Kentucky's oldest pro-life organization, has opened applications for the Pregnancy and Parenting Scholarship, a support program that aims to uplift and empower single mothers as they purse higher education.
"The Pregnant and Parenting Scholarship is a vital resource that provides support to mothers as they navigate the challenges of parenthood while pursuing their education," said Shelly Green, executive director of Right to Life of Louisville.
To qualify, applicants must be enrolled in an accredited degree program, have a child aged 6 or younger and live within 30 miles of Louisville. The application includes a short essay or video detailing the applicant's motherhood and education journey, proof of pregnancy and proof of enrollment for both fall and spring semesters and an optional letter of recommendation.
The award totals $1,000 or more, depending on available funding, and will be distributed directly to the recipient's school for the Fall 2026 semester.
"This scholarship isn't just about money. It's about encouragement, hope, and the belief that every mom deserves the chance to succeed. Whether it's helping with tuition, books, or just lightening the load a little, it's a reminder that she's not alone--and that her goals matter," said Green. "To every mom balancing school and parenting: we see you, we support you, and we're cheering you on."
During her time as Development Director at Lifehouse Maternity Home in Louisville, Green saw firsthand the impact of the Pregnant and Parenting Scholarship when a mom in that program applied and won.
"She was able to...pay for a partial amount of her school and she didn't have to worry about that," Green said. "It also helped her to get other scholarships, so financially it was a big benefit for her."
Applications are due by January 1, 2026. A winner will be recognized at the Right to Life of Louisville Annual Gala on March 18, 2026.
